MissionWalk (2014) and BroadWalk (2012)

These are experimental documentary films in which I walked the lengths of two major historic avenues - Mission, in San Francisco, and Broadway, in New York. Along my walks, I wore a handmade sandwich sign and a helmet camera on my head, and interviewed any subjects who agreed to take part in my video. The sandwich sign I wore was inspired by street salesmen in New York; by wearing it, I was making a reference to advertising and commerce, but what I was “selling” was a democratic process in which I, the cameraman, removed myself from the product and emphasized the concerns of these interviewees, many of whom chose to discuss economic and political subjects.
